Thailand travel restrictions
With the great news that the Thailand travel ban has been lifted, travellers from all over the world are now free to come and go. Entry restrictions vary between country to country, so it’s important to refer to the official travel information available for your country.
‘Test and Go’ entry system
For most countries, the Thailand government has introduced a ‘Test and Go’ entry system that allows vaccinated travellers to enter without needing to quarantine. Under the ‘Test and Go’ entry system, tourists are required to prove that they have been fully vaccinated for at least 14 days before entering Thailand and will be required to purchase COVID-19 insurance.
Upon arrival in Thailand, travellers will need to get tested and book a SHA+ Hotel for day one of their trip. This is to ensure that tourists don’t enter the Thai community without receiving a negative RT PCR COVID test result.
Visa requirements
To visit Thailand on a holiday, general tourists from the Visa Exemption List are not subject to any Thailand visa restrictions and are free to enter the country provided they adhere to all COVID-19 restrictions. Without a visa, tourists can go travelling or backpacking in Phuket and surrounding islands for 30 days and if they want to, will have the opportunity to apply for a 30 day visa extension. Due to COVID-19, this extension will be valid for 60 days to ensure travellers have the opportunity to properly explore Thailand.
